Still waiting for book 16 on audio? The Primal Hunter audiobook release schedule has slipped since book 12: the last three audiobooks came 147 to 189 days after their ebooks, and on October 25, 2026, 88 days after book 16's ebook, Audible still stopped at book 15. If that holds, listeners are looking at late December to early February. Where Book 16 Stands on Audible
Nothing, which is the news. Book 16's ebook came out on July 29, 2026, and its Amazon page now reads "Book 16 of 17", with 4.7 stars from 5,084 ratings. But on Audible, the series page still shows "The Primal Hunter 15 books in series". The newest audiobook there is book 15, released August 19, 2026, 21 hours 3 minutes, read by Travis Baldree.
Aethon, the publisher, has no audio line for it either. Aethon's page lists series, author, page count, prices, ISBN, ASIN and publication date, with no narrator or duration. Its blurb reads "Book 16 of the hit Primal Hunter LitRPG Series is here. Grab your copy today!" That is the ebook talking.

We also looked for an announcement. Aethon's blog index had no Primal Hunter audio post when we checked; its newest item, dated October 7, 2026, was about new series launching in November 2026. If a Primal Hunter 16 audiobook release date appears, it will most likely show up first as an Audible pre-order. It goes on our release calendar the day it does.

Two eras show up. Books 9 to 12 averaged under three months. Since book 13, the wait has been 147 to 189 days, roughly five to six months. Book 16 is 88 days in: inside the 55 to 99 days of books 9 to 12, short of the 147 to 189 days of books 13 to 15.
Counted from July 29, the 147 to 189 day range of books 13 to 15 lands between December 23, 2026 and February 3, 2027; their average, 168 days, lands on January 13, 2027. Counted the other way, from book 15's audio date, past gaps between audiobooks (84 to 210 days) give November 11, 2026 to March 17, 2027. Both are our arithmetic, not a date from Aethon or Audible.

Why It Matters
Listeners are about to fall two books behind. Amazon has The Primal Hunter 17 on Kindle pre-order for November 18, 2026, labeled "Book 17 of 17", 112 days after book 16. Unless the book 16 audiobook lands first, audio-only fans will be on book 15 while ebook readers start book 17. Our Primal Hunter 17 page lists that pre-order.
It also matters for anyone starting now. The 15 audiobooks run 298 hours 14 minutes, so a new listener has plenty to do before book 16 matters.
Desk note: Our series-length calculator puts the 15 audiobooks at 299 days at 1x and an hour a day. That is longer than any audio lag in the table above.

Not everyone is that patient. u/rigjiggles: "I’m an audio only listener so I only have up to 15. I imagine 16 will be towards end of the year." (comment, September 16, 2026). And u/spyro789 offered a rule of thumb in October: "It’s normally about three months or so between e-book and audio" (comment, October 13, 2026). The table backs that for books 9 to 12, not for 13 to 15.
Our take
Our pick: plan on early 2027 and finish books 1 to 15 first. The last three audiobooks needed 147 to 189 days, and book 16 is only 88 days in. A December listing would be on the quick side of the recent pattern.
Skip it (for now) if: you hate being behind. Switch to the ebook, where book 16 is out and book 17 is due November 18; our Primal Hunter reading order has page counts for all 16.
What we don't know yet: why the lag grew after book 12, and whether Travis Baldree reads book 16. No source we checked says.
